Our Legacy
In 1966 the vision to bring a new church to the southwest side of Miamisburg came to life with the start of Riverview Baptist Church. For decades, Riverview Baptist served the people of Miamisburg and pointed the way to the one giver of abundant life, Jesus Christ. The ministry flourished under the direction of godly pastors, faithful followers, and a community seeking to know Christ more. However, recent years gave way to a bad economy, families growing up and moving on. The membership at RBC began to decrease – but God was not finished with His people or ministry there!
In October of 2010, Pastor Brad Herbst and his family were called back to Ohio to plant a new church in Miamisburg called LifePoint Community Church. Partnering with the Greater Dayton Baptist Association, this church plant began meeting in the Herbst family home in the Spring of 2011. Through their earliest moments of ministry, LifePoint had the great opportunity to partner with Riverview Baptist Church several times, in worship, in fellowship, and in service. We believe this was by no coincidence.
In July of 2014, the idea of a Legacy Partnership with LifePoint was discussed by the remaining members of Riverview Baptist Church. On Wednesday, July 23, 2014, the members of Riverview voted to enter into a Legacy Partnership with LifePoint. On Sunday, July 27, 2014, the members of LifePoint voted to accept this partnership. This Legacy Partnership meant that the members of Riverview Baptist believed that God was calling them to join in the mission that God has for the Miamisburg area by becoming part of LifePoint Community Church. In voting to enter into this Legacy Partnership, the members of Riverview agreed that all of the assets of Riverview (property, equipment, materials, supplies, ministries, funds, etc.) would become the assets of LifePoint Community Church. The remaining members of Riverview who wished to continue in the legacy that this church leaves behind became members of LifePoint.
As for LifePoint, this has given the young, growing church plant a solid foundation within the community, building upon the decades of faithful service and dedication from the members of Riverview Baptist. This is an honor that we take very seriously. This legacy partnership that we now have to build upon is going to become foundational history in the LifePoint church plant! We are so thankful to the members of Riverview Baptist for their dedication to Christ over the years. We look forward to what God has in store for all of us in the time to come. Above all, may He be glorified!
